Shipping Policy
Heying Company | Alton, IA 51003 | Ph. (712) 756-8847 Effective Date: 9-1-26
We are committed to providing you with the best shopping experience. Please review our comprehensive policy below regarding processing, delivery types, and customer freight responsibilities.
- Processing Times & Ship Dates
- Standard Processing: Orders for in-stock items are typically processed within 1–3 business days after payment confirmation. During peak seasons or promotions, processing times may be slightly longer. If an item is out of stock, we will contact you immediately with a status update.
- Expected Ship Dates: Any estimated shipping date provided in your order confirmation email is the earliest date the order will leave our facility. This date is an estimate, is not guaranteed, and does not include transit days or represent a final delivery date.
- Shipping Methods & Rates
We utilize different shipping methods depending on whether you are ordering replacement parts, full machinery, or separate attachments at a later date.
- Parts & Accessories (UPS Ground)
- Delivery Method: Small packages, boxes, and small components ship via UPS Ground (typically 3–7 business days). Expedited shipping options are available at checkout.
- Shipping Costs: Rates are calculated automatically at checkout based on total package weight, dimensions, and your delivery zip code. Customers must provide a valid physical delivery address during checkout to receive accurate UPS rates.
- Full Machine Orders (Freight / Common Carrier / Semi-Truck)
- Standard Online Checkout: For immediate online purchases via our website shopping cart, all full machines ship for a standardized flat-rate freight fee that is automatically calculated and clearly displayed before checkout. If optional attachments or factory accessories are added at the time of the initial machine order, they will not increase this standard online flat-rate shipping cost.
- Custom Freight Quotes: If you request a manual quote using our website’s “Request a Quote” button, our team will calculate and provide your freight cost manually based precisely on your exact delivery location and the base machine weight. If optional attachments or factory accessories are added at the time of the initial machine order, they do not increase your freight shipping cost.
- The Checkout Questionnaire: Because freight shipments require a full-sized semi-truck, machine buyers completing an online purchase must answer a specialized questionnaire during checkout specifying their unloading capabilities (dock, forklift, or requested liftgate service) and providing a dedicated receiving phone number.
- Optional Attachments Ordered After a Machine Has Shipped
- Shipping Terms: If a machine has already been purchased and shipped, and a customer wants to order optional attachments at a later date, these standalone orders do not qualify for the machine freight bundling.
- Calculation Method: These items will usually ship via UPS Ground (or in rare cases, via common carrier semi, depending entirely on the total quantity and volume of attachments ordered). Shipping costs for these standalone attachment orders are calculated automatically at checkout and are predetermined based on weight and box dimensions just like standard parts orders.
- Custom Attachment Quotes: Alternatively, a customer can utilize our website’s “Request a Quote” option for standalone attachment orders. Our team will manually calculate and provide a shipping cost quote for the attachments according to the most economical method available for their order.
- Freight Delivery & Scheduling Responsibilities
The following responsibilities apply strictly to Machine Freight orders (Excludes UPS Ground parts):
- The Delivery Appointment: Once your machine ships, you will receive tracking details via email. You must answer or return calls from unknown numbers, check your voicemail, and speak directly with the freight carrier’s appointment clerk to finalize the delivery date and time window.
- Unloading Location Restrictions: Common carrier semi-trucks are massive. Drivers will deliver your order to the end of your driveway, a commercial dock, or where the driver deems safe. Most carriers will not drive down personal driveways, dirt roads, private lanes, or limited-access areas. You are fully responsible for moving the machine from the truck’s drop point to your final location. If you do not have supportive machinery on site, you may need to assemble the equipment and hook it up to a tow vehicle right at the end of your driveway.
- Unloading Requirements: An authorized individual at least 18 years of age must be present at delivery. This person must be skilled in operating any machinery (forklift, tractor with front-end forks, skid loader) required to offload your palletized order. The semi driver will not assist you with unloading, and you will only have a few minutes to clear the truck before costly carrier retention fees accumulate.
- Crucial: Delivery Inspection & Freight Damage Claims
When Heying Company signs the outgoing Freight Papers (Bill of Lading / BOL), we certify that your order left our Alton, IA factory in perfect condition. Once you sign for the delivery, legal responsibility shifts to you. Heying Company nor the carrier will be responsible for damage or shortages (missing pieces) if you do not explicitly note them on the driver’s BOL.
- Inspect While the Driver is Present: Do not let the driver rush you. Thoroughly inspect your purchase for any damages or shortages immediately. This requires you to remove shrink-wrap, banding, or cardboard packaging to visibly inspect the machine and attachments beneath it.
- If You Find Damage or Shortages: You are not required to accept damaged freight. However, if you choose to accept the shipment, you MUST sign the BOL as “Damaged” or indicate the missing pieces directly on the document provided by the driver. If you have any questions about what constitutes damage or shortage, please call us at (712) 756-8847 immediately before the driver leaves your property.
- Address Accuracy & Order Modifications
- Address Errors: Please ensure your shipping address is 100% accurate and complete. Heying Company is not responsible for orders lost or misdelivered due to incorrect addresses. If inaccurate or insufficient delivery information requires the carrier to charge extra handling, redelivery, or residential fees after shipment, those costs must be paid entirely by you.
- Order Modifications: Any order modifications or address corrections must be requested immediately. Because we process orders quickly and often operate on tight windows between final order approval and our factory ship dates, we cannot guarantee changes can be made once an order enters production.
- International Orders: Orders shipping outside the USA are subject to import charges, customs duties, duties, and foreign freight charges, which are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Please contact our customer service team directly for assistance with international logistics.
